quick update on my problem: I was using the latest .nestml models from the main branch with NESTML version 8.0.0-rc3. There is a slight difference between these and apparently that caused it.
It works now and I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Thanks for the update, Jona! We will release NESTML 8.0.0 soon and that will prevent this issue from coming up again.
