Hi,

I am using Ubuntu and just updated to Nest 3.4 however I get the following error: Feb 26 15:53:59 SLIStartup [Fatal]: SLI initialisation file not found at /build/nest-xF9H0B/nest-3.4/debian/nest/usr/share/nest/sli/sli-init.sli. Please check your NEST installation.

Moreover, is there a simple way to roll back and install Nest 3.3 , such as: sudo apt install nest=3.3?

Hi Inton, Did you resolve this issue? I had the same error come up today after an automatic update run by Linux (Ubuntu 20.04.5) and now I am unable to run NEST (version 3.4).

If not, some more information for other users, in case anyone can help: I ran an automatic update on my computer (running Linux Ubuntu 20.04.5) and now NEST is unable to find the sli file. I receive the following error:

Mar 02 10:59:03 SLIStartup [Fatal]: SLI initialisation file not found at /build/nest-UTZ2DW/nest-3.4/debian/nest/usr/share/nest/sli/sli-init.sli. Please check your NEST installation.

I tried updating the nest-config file to use the path where I know the sli file is located but I get the same error. The update log is pasted below to show what has been updated. NEST was running yesterday (01/03) so it seems it has something to do with the auto update that ran today (02/03). The log also reflects my attempts at updating NEST and python in case this was the issue, unfortunately, it did not resolve the error.

I was able to reproduce the error. The path to sli-init.sli is the path of the build system. I will take a closer look and keep you you up to date.

updated packages now exist in the repository. With

apt update && apt upgrade

the new NEST package should be installed.

I have tested this shortly with Ubuntu 22.04 and 20.04.

There are packages for:

ubuntu23.04.1 ubuntu22.10.1 ubuntu22.04.1 ubuntu20.04.1

I would be very grateful for testing and short feedback on this.

Hi Steffen, Thank you so much! After running update / upgrade, NEST works again on my machine (Ubuntu 20.04.5).
