As
you very well stated, I want to force an AdEx neuron to fire at e.g., times 10.5 ms, 15.8 ms and 23.4 ms during a simulation.
The
output spike train should be consisted of only the forced spikes, since there isn't any input.
The
aim is to keep track of the weight change of its plastic synapse by having complete control of the neuron's output spike train.
You write that you want to keep track of weight change of "its plastic synapse". So I assume you have a neuron A and a neuron B, with A sending spikes to B via a plastic synapse. You want A to emit spikes at predefined times, and then study the weight
change in the synapse from A onto B.
If plasticity is STDP, you probably want to control spike trains in A and B completely. In that case, the best approach would be to use parrot neurons fed by spike generators, with the plastic synapse between the parrot neurons.
Controlling spike times in other neurons is not possible and I would consider it not useful in the long run to introduce such a possiblity, because it mixes the concept of a neuron (which receives input and emits output in response to that input) and stimulating
devices (which emit spikes or currents as prescribed by the user).
Best,
Hans Ekkehard
Thank
you very much,
I
hope there is a way of implementing that.
Kind
regards,
Dear Nikolaos,
Just to be sure that I understand you correctly: You want to make an AdEx neuron fire at, e.g., times 10.5 ms, 15.8 ms and 23.4 ms during your simulation? I assume those «forced» spikes should be in addition to the spikes the neuron
anyway fires, driven by input? Should these «forced» spikes affect the adapting mechanism in the neuron or just be added to the output spike train?
Best,
Hans Ekkehard

Dear NEST users,
I would like to ask you if there is any way to have an AdEx neuron model firing at specific times (ms) in NEST.
Kind regards,
